Puglia in the world: places of origin, symbols and traditions
This itinerary will take you to discover some of the symbolic places of the most authentic Puglia. You will get to know the home towns of two world-famous Puglians, Domenico Modugno and Astor Piazzolla, and visit some of the region’s most characteristic historic centers, starting with its capital city. You’ll get lost among picturesque seaside villages and the famous trulli of the Itria Valley. You will prepare and taste orecchiette and other traditional Puglian dishes, while tasting some of the best local wines. An authentic experience you won’t be able to forget.

Bari and Polignano, the symbols of Puglia in the world
Bari
Tour of the old city of Puglia’s capital city, accompanied by a tour guide.
You’ll be enchanted as you stroll through the alleys of Bari’s old town, visit some of the main monuments, such as the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and the Norman Swabian Castle, and then make your way to Bari’s most iconic orecchiette street. Here you will get to meet the orecchiette ladies, the women who live on this street and who prepare fresh pasta every day on the doorstep of their homes.
After the visit you will have a chance to try your hand at making orecchiette pasta, in a cooking class designed especially for you, with a typical lunch following.

Polignano a Mare
In the afternoon, a guided tour of the historic center that was the birthplace of Domenico Modugno, “Mister Volare” a symbol of Italy around the world, awaits you. We will start from the statue of the well-known singer overlooking the beautiful sea of Polignano, and then get lost in the alleys of the beautiful town.

Trani and Molfetta, discovering Puglians around the world
Trani
Guided tour of the picturesque old town, home town of the ancestors of the famous Argentine musician Astor Piazzolla and now the site of a major tango festival in his honor.
Visit the majestic Cathedral by the sea and the Frederician Castle, and walk along the harbor.
For lunch you will be welcomed to a typical trattoria in the historic center.

Molfetta
Visit to the Church of Our Lady of Martyrs, the “patroness of Puglians around the world.” Here you will have the opportunity to meet with experts on Puglian emigration and a representative of the local community, with whom you can chat and learn more about the history of Apulian migration flows. Walk through the historic center of Molfetta.

Itria Valley, land of trulli and traditions
Alberobello
In the morning, a beautiful walk through one of Puglia postcards awaits you: the historic center of Alberobello, discovering the trulli, the typical buildings that characterize one of the region’s most famous villages in Italy and abroad. You will learn about their history and how they were built thanks to the tour guide who will accompany you.

In the afternoon we will visit a beautiful and innovative Memory Museum in one of the most picturesque towns in the Itria Valley, Locorotondo. Get ready to rediscover the traditions, ancient crafts and typical recipes of Puglia in a very special museum that combines tradition and innovation.
