Tour
Let’s start with two of the most famous sacred places in Puglia, whose saints are famous all over the world: St. Pio of Pietrelcina and St. Michael the Archangel.
You will experience this strip of Puglia by walking along paths along a stretch of the ancient Via Francigena, starting from San Giovanni Rotondo.
We will guide you in the footsteps of ancient walkers, but to cheer up the journey to your Apulian roots, you will be accompanied by the notes of the local singers, custodians of an oral tradition also known overseas, thanks to those who have brought these notes from Puglia to the rest of the world to make them famous.
You will then have the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary of San Pio, the saint of the stigmata, now venerated not only in Puglia, and the historic center of San Giovanni Rotondo, where you can admire the ancient Norman tower and discover the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions.
The journey will continue with a visit to San Marco in Lamis, a town from which many Apulians left at the beginning of the twentieth century, for Australia and the Americas.
Here we will take you to the foot of the monument “La Partenza” by the local artist Filippo Pirro, who dedicated this sculptural complex with a strong emotional impact to the Apulian emigrants.
The tour will continue with a pleasant walk along The path of the soul, a path wanted by the artist himself, who dreamed and designed it, immersed in the lush Gargano nature, a few kilometers from San Marco in Lamis, among quotes and poems by Apulian and Italian poets and tributes to the Divine Comedy, and you will meet the children of Filippo Pirro who today carry on his work.
We will then accompany you to discover Monte Sant’Angelo, among places of incredible spirituality: the Abbey of Pulsano, the Basilica and the Cave of San Michele, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, founded where, it is believed, the Archangel Gabriel laid his wings.
It will be nice to get lost in the characteristic alleys of the ancient village, and then be welcomed in this emblematic place of worship.
An encounter with the blue of the Gargano sea will greet this journey.
Passing through the enchanting Umbra Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will stop in Vieste, the jewel of this land of Puglia.
In Vieste you can enjoy an unforgettable fishing experience on a trebuchet, one of the ancient structures that act as a lookout along the Gargano coasts, and which traditionally welcomed the activity of local fishermen.
Some old “trebuchet” masters will pass on the ancient techniques and accompany you in a unique experience, enjoying the magical sunset of the Gargano.
