Italea Puglia: the Festival of Apulian roots. On Sunday, April 7, between Borgo Piave and Frigole (Lecce), a special preview of the traveling festival of Italea Puglia that celebrates the bond between Apulians from all over the world
On Sunday, April 7 , between Borgo Piave and Frigole (Lecce), the special preview of “Italea Puglia: the Festival of Apulian roots” is scheduled, the traveling festival of Italea Puglia that celebrates 2024 “Year of Italian Roots” in the Heel of Italy, promoted by the MAECI. The Apulian festival, organized in partnership with associations, municipalities and other local realities, enhances the “genius loci” of the territory and the bond between Apulians from all over the world.
On Sunday, April 7, the first appointment, in collaboration with the The Tin Box, is dedicated to “Stories of roots and belonging” and includes a community walk and a meeting with Natalino Battaglia, an Italian-descendant of Apulian origins, president of theApulian Association of Buenos Aires, to rediscover the adventures of those who have sailed the ocean and those consumed “around the corner”, in the shadow of forgotten places.
“The new imaginary of Puglia, in the coming years, will also touch the places where the need to leave once originated ,” say the managers of the Italea Puglia project and where today it is possible to rediscover values and knowledge and reveal unpublished pages of known stories. A journey between past and future, which also lives in today’s steps.”
The Apulian Roots Festival: Sunday’s program
On Sunday, April 7, the appointment is at 4 p.m. in Piazza Ferrandi in Borgo Piave (Frigole), to cross together the places from which the history of the twentieth century passed. Afterwards, there will be a transfer by car to the small port of Frigole, to listen to the scent of the sea in search of poetry and the invisible in a place off the beaten track of mainstream tourism.
At 7 p.m. the walk ends in the heart of Frigole, in front of the historic pastry shop rotisserie trattoria “Zio Vinci”.
Here there will be a meeting with Natalino Battaglia , an Italian-descendant of Apulian origins, president of the Apulian Association of Buenos Aires, to share stories of departures and returns. In dialogue with Natalino Battaglia will be Gianluca Palma of La Scatola di Latta and Rita Piccinni, Giorgia Salicandro and Sara Colonna of Italea Puglia.
At 8 p.m. there will be the opportunity to dine and sing convivially at the trattoria with P40 and Donna Lucia, between “Ricordi, cunti e culacchi”. An informal artistic moment in which music and light-hearted storytelling mark the germ of customs and traditions and the poetic link with nostalgia. Popular menu (info and dinner reservations by Saturday at 338 641 9786).
For the walk you don’t need to book but it will be important to be there: the invitation, for those who participate, is rather to bring a poem, a story, a song and a bit of happiness!
Contribution to the walk is optional, free and conscious.
Those who participate release the organizers from any direct or indirect responsibility. There will be two short car trips.
